Laura earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish from the College of Wooster in 1990, Master's degrees (Political Science, 1991 and Latin American Studies, 1992) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School in 1997. Laura worked as an attorney and a mediator from 1997-2005. Beginning in 2006, Laura left her private law practice in order to devote her energies to mediating, teaching ethics at The Academy of the Fox Cities and, in the fall of 2006, to work part-time as Assistant Principal at The Academy. For the 2007-2008 school year, Laura will expand her administrative duties at The Academy as Global Service Director and Director of Operations. In addition, she will continue to teach ethics and mediate occasionally. As Global Service Director she is responsible for the creation, implementation, and direction of the service component of the education that The Academy elementary, middle school, and high school students recieve. As Director of Operations she is responsible for ensuring that the school operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis for students, teachers and parents. Laura is also active in our community. She continues to mediate, both as a volunteer with the Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center, and occasionally as a consultant to Alternative Resolutions, Inc. She is a board member of the Wisconsin Association of Mediators (WAM), a member of the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR), a member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS), a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), a member of the Wisconsin State Bar and the Wisconsin State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, and she serves as an investigator for the Wisconsin Supreme Court Office of Lawyer Regulation District 10 Committee.
