Philosophy

To achieve its mission, The Academy's educational philosophy addresses
the following goals:

  • To ensure that every student receives a thorough and firm foundation in an international curriculum. This excellent educational and intellectual grounding provides the basis for further personal and academic development.
  • To foster the abilities of comprehension and critical thought. A challenging and interesting curriculum encourages each student to inquire, analyze and problem-solve, not merely recite facts. The learning environment stresses an academically rigorous and content-rich educational program, inspiring each student to discover and learn, encouraging independent and creative thought, and fostering qualities of self-reliance and self-confidence.
  • To provide a maximum of individualized attention. Very small class size, and highly trained and dedicated faculty enable each student to thrive in an atmosphere which allows for optimal opportunities for academic and personal growth. Each student receives quality individual attention. The staff can promote and adapt a variety of learning methods (auditory, visual and tactile) to achieve optimum individual development, instilling the satisfaction of accomplishment in each student.
  • To maintain detailed and ongoing student evaluation and teacher to parent interaction ensuring that every student is provided with the opportunity to attain her or his highest academic and character potential.
  • To provide an ongoing environment of mutual respect, teaching humane, tolerant and responsible interaction. Students participate in cooperative and collaborative learning, functioning successfully as a member of a group, while fostering respect for individual differences.
